About Smorali Art
Artist Biography
Solomon Morali, is a contemporary painter, who resides in Kaneohe, Hawaii. He uses very bold, expressive brushwork and energetic color in his work. His themes either reflect the surrounding natural environment or emotional affliction. He is influenced by the vibrant colors of his Indian heritage and the work of Amrita Sher-Gil (d 1941). Her paintings were introspective, quiet and contemplative.
Solomon was born in Brooklyn, New York. He received an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts in Art and is a current student at University of Hawaii at Manoa studying towards a BFA. His process is finding a theme, then preparing studies before engaging the subject on canvas. In painting he mostly works with oil paint, although he does some mix media, watercolor, and drawing.
